SOBRE A ARTISTA/
SÍLVIA BRUM (Porto Alegre/RS, 1967)
Formada em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela UniRitter, Porto Alegre, Brazil. Cursou a oficina de pintura do Atelier Livre da Prefeitura Municipal na mesma cidade.
A artista realizou diversas exposições individuais e coletivas, tais como Luz & Sombra, na Casa das Artes Regina Simonis, Santa Cruz do Sul/ Brazil (2019), MIMETISMOS, na Gravura Galeria de Arte, Porto Alegre/ Brazil (2018), Silvia Brum, no Centro de Integração do Mercosul, Pelotas/Brazil (2003).
Participou de exposições coletivas como Artistas Gaúchos na Fundação Iberê - Participantes do Leilão 2020, na Fundação Iberê, Porto Alegre/ Brazil (2021), Art South Brazil in Miami, na Art Design Gallery, Miami/USA (2019), mostra 4 Visões, Fundação Iberê, Porto Alegre/ Brazil (2019) e Paralelo 30, na galeria Agência de Arte, Porto Alegre/ Brazil (1997).
Possui obras em coleções particulares e no acervo do MARGS - Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre/Brazil.
Reside na cidade de Porto Alegre, onde dedica-se à pintura figurativa contemporânea, tendo sempre a figura feminina como elemento central.
ABOUT THE ARTIST/
Olhos vivos e expressivos são a marca registrada de seu trabalho, pintado em óleo sobre tela, ou ainda combinando outras técnicas como acrílico e ferrugem sobre MDF.
Atualmente desenvolve uma série de pinturas a óleo chamada PERSONA. Nesta série, figuras femininas são representadas por máscaras, ou personas, que funcionam como interface entre a mulher autêntica e a que sustenta um papel diante da sociedade. Com este recurso, a artista aborda aspectos emocionais e sociais do universo feminino. Rachaduras, lacunas ou alegorias simbolizam vivências e cicatrizes de suas personagens, que por ora destacam-se de seus fundos, ainda que, paradoxalmente, insistam em permanecer mimetizadas, inseparáveis de seus contextos.

Graduated with a degree in Architecture and Urbanism through UniRitter in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Completed a painting workshop through Atelier Livre at Porto Alegre City Hall.
The artist held various solo and group exhibitions, such as Luz & Sombra, at the Art house Regina Simonis, in Santa Cruz do Sul/Brazil (2019), MIMETISMOS, at the Gravura Art Gallery, Porto Alegre/Brazil (2018), Silvia Brum, at the Centro de Integracao do Mercosul, Pelotas/Brazil (2003).

She has artistic works in private collections as well as in the MARGS collection- Museum of Art in Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre/Brazil.
Silvia lives in the city of Porto Alegre, where she specializes in the contemporary painting style, while always maintaining the feminine figure as a central focus within her art.
Vivid facial portrayal, particularly concentrating on eye expression, are what marks Silvia’s artistic works. Painted in oil on canvas, or combining other techniques such as acrylic and rust on MDF.
Silvia is currently developing a series of oil paintings called PERSONA. In this artistic series, female figures are represented by masks, or personas, which function as an interface between the ‘traditional’ woman and the one who holds a role in society. With this resource, the artist addresses the emotional and social aspects that surround the female experience. Cracks, gaps or allegories symbolize the memories and scars of its characters, which for now stand out from their backgrounds, even though, paradoxically, they insist on remaining mimicked, inseparable from their contexts.
